I'm making a sun lamp from an LCD backlight. I also aspire to make the lamp from Jimmy Neutron's living room

KiwiCo makes a pretty cool lamp kit. Unfortunately their business model is subscription based so you can't just buy individual kits. You have to either get a monthly subscription or buy a multipack. (Which is how they force people to buy their unpopular kits)

Really a great business model from their perspective. Sucks for consumers though. Anyway the lamp is cool

making lamp is good. I feel like lighting is really under utilized. Especially after reading 'in praise of shadows' i realize thats not really a thing in american culture as far as i know. Certainly i've never had friends or acquaintances ask me for a critique of their shadows.
