why do the groups have overlap? is that so you can pretend you're still 21 when you're 30?

If someone has a kid now, it will be 9 years before they can come on wetfish.

I first joined IRC at age 11. But if my parents had trained me to IRC I could definitely have joined IRC at 9.

its illegal in the US to allow anyone under the age of 13 to share information about themselves online
it is also illegal to share nudity with anyone under the age of 18
so they would be limited to dryfish

I started wetfish when I was 15 and kate first joined when she was 14
Pielover was 12 or 13 when he wrote the configuration for the Wetfish Teeworlds server. But we kicked nymiigirl for being 12 because she was literally acting like a child.
I feel like it has more to do with how mature you are over all vs what your age actually is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I made a lot of shitty mistakes in my youth and in the past regarding the internet and meeting people from online and rampantly posting whatever so I don't think using my actions as a minor as an example for the behavior of future generations is a great idea. There are many good experiences, but I have a lot of regrets ):
I don't think "being uncomfortable with minors around adult content I'm responsible for posting in some cases" is a bad opinion to have. its not like I can just easily delete all the pornographic reposts on the wiki I've put up over the years if I decide I want to wash my hands of it entirely and make it a nonissue. I'm pretty sure that's something only you can do and I'm not going to ask you to go through all that work on my account. so if minors are explicitly allowed around then I'm pretty much going to be uncomfortable and there's nothing anyone can really do about that??
Also, I'd hope this is clear already, but I'm just saying how I feel about it. I'm not asking you to change the rules about who you invite or whatever. this isn't the suggestions forum ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
including minors in moderated adult settings is good for building confidence and character but I personally don't think wetfish is the place to do it. I agree that having age-appropriate areas for them would be better. nothing's stopping anyone from lying about their age either, as is the time-honored tradition.

Shit, i don't think my actions as an "adult" during that same time are anything i want enshrined in the internet time capsule.
