Today I learned that when China launches rockets the boosters fall back to the earth in random uncontrolled trajectories. Occasionally onto people's houses. Also they use extremely toxic hypergolic fuels which cause cancer. Yay!

Want to dive into the rabbit hole a little?
Dig up ADVchina, or the individual channels of the two that run that -- SerpentZA or laowhy86 They're expats from South Africa and the US that spent around a decade each living in china, and talk about the culture there... and the lack of it, too. I found them years back, just for entertainment and well, both are married to Chinese women, so some culture-clash/shock videos they'd discuss intermeshed with me being married to a Filipina. IMO, they give a pretty balanced measure of the beauty and the ugliness, and some understanding behind how things are how they are in China. They have a documentary of their rides through china on motorcycle on Amazon Video, as well.

Blizzard has also disabled comments on the news which are normally open, and from scrolling back through hundreds of posts this is the only time they've done that

SHANGHAI — China has drawn up new guidelines to reclassify dogs as pets rather than livestock, the agriculture ministry said, part of a response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Though dog meat remains a delicacy in many regions, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a notice published on Wednesday that dogs would no longer be considered as livestock.

Hello, do you disagree with the Chinese government? Well I guess it's time for you to stop existing.

Mr Chen, a human rights lawyer, posted video of inside a hospital in Wuhan showing overwhelmed staff battling an influx of patients.
And then on February 6 his account on Weibo - a Chinese social network - was deleted.
His parents were informed he had been taken into quarantine - and since then there has been no sign of him.

Mr Fang's disappearance is chillingly similar as he uploaded a video on February 1 showing eight bodies outside a hospital in Wuhan - with police then seizing his laptop.
Days later, on February 4 he uploaded a video of men in protective suits trying to enter his home before he vanished on February 8.
