the website never fucked anybody over.
justin was very clear after the server-side check was added
if you ever modify any portion of your profile the server-side validation will apply to your avatar
kitlero has stayed strong and never modified his profile since that fateful day oh so many years ago

back in the day there wasn't any server-side validation
