Title: Bot features
Post by: ceph on October 18, 2021, 09:59:41 am
The holiday season is upon us. Share your bot feature wishlist here. (As you may know, Honk recently came out of retirement.)

My wishlist:

- It would be cool if all bots had the same prefix, or supported user-specific prefixes. I always see people trying multiple prefixes because no one can remember which bot has which command.
- Fix Twitter search
- Audit and fix other broken commands
- Hang man game
- Acronym game

We need denice's implementation of !duel, that shit was baller

Except ideally we should figure out how to balance it so it's not completely broken for people who have been playing for months vs newbies

"Dishonorable battle" - you don't get EXP if someone is too many levels below you

And we need to figure out how to prevent people from scripting it so they just battle against themselves over and over. (Commie would use multiple accounts and fight himself to get levels, very dishonorable)

!acrowar:
- it's Apples To Apples or Cards Against Humanity with more effort by the players and more creativity.  Fund it.

!duel :
- read up on parlour games for competition.  !duel is just a fancy way of choosing one of two.  Could just be flipping a coin, rolling a die for odds-evens, or inside the black box as complicated as Blaseball but it's still just f(A,B) -> C in the end.
- fatigue mechanics?  I think in game design it's called "anti-poop-socking" to nudge the human player away from playing too much at once.  This would stop the botting to grind-up stats, and make people vulnerable to getting dogpiled.  Maybe a throttle for how much you can gain from sequential wins, or gains tied to the duration since the last !duel ?

!hangman:
- What'll we do instead of drawing a stick-figure?  ascii-art of a burning fuse to a bomb?  a noble marching slowly to the guillotine?
