Has anyone in Wetfish actually eaten a yam? No, you fucking Americans I don't mean a sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas). And no, Kiwis, I don't mean Oxalis tuberosa either. I mean a REAL YAM (Dioscorea)

Real yams are fucking massive, like 2-3 feet long and 4 inches in diameter.

Everything you've been told by supermarkets is a lie. Sweet potatoes ARE NOT YAMS.

If anyone in wetfish has ever eaten a real yam, please let us know what they are like.

I asked a local grocery store if they have any yams.  .... god, shopping search engines suck ass.

how does it compare to sweet potatoes? regular potatoes?

i ate yams at a friends house when i was a youth, they kept saying it was "yams" and i was confused because it didn't taste like anything anyone else calls a yam. texture was weird too. it wasn't great but it was food, i just thought was extremely shit tier mash potato.
