Ooooo, ghost pipe! That's actually a parasitic plant that steals nutrients from the roots of other plants and only sends up shoots to flower. It's lost its ability to produce chlorophyll altogether, which is why it's white. I've seen them around the woods here, usually a few days after a good rain.

Only one of the trails-- the center trail-- has seen consistent usage in our absence. The Western trail has a formidable series of barriers which the ATV riders have yet to fuck with. The Eastern trail has filled in with all of the water from the storms this summer and the reeds have started to grow sideways, filling in the old trail.

Upgraded barriers along the center trail:

A couple of the smaller barriers had been damaged

And here's a pic of snek documenting our progress!

Sooo like... God made this barrier within the past month. This tree was not blocking the south trail when I visited the property a month ago. I think it was when Hurricane Ida passed through

Thanks god!! This was like the perfect tree to fall smack dab in the middle of the trail!!

The EPA started growing trees on top of the toxic waste??? With solar panels presumably to run sensors?

Pictured: white pine, eastern hemlock, oak, and maple seedlings. All 1-2 years old, sprouting on an old ATV trail (you can see one of the logs blocking the trail in the background)
