David Rubinstein is a billionaire investor who owns 77 fossil fuel companies, a dozen weapons companies, if it blows children up or gives them asthma, HE WANTS TO INVEST! So everyone, glasses up for Devid Rubinstein, the worst climate offender. David Rubinstein everyone! He's destroying the planet and should be famous for it.

"So you get rid of all the [migrants / heretics], then what?  You really
think the government is gonna fix your public services?  Your landlord
will stop ripping you off? Your boss will pay you a fair wage? These are
the problems making you miserable, and you're dealing with it by
getting mad at the people at the bottom?"

I swear to s*** f***, wizards of the coast is ruining magic the gathering just for 💲💲💲!

Like dont get me wrong, this looks sick af and Im totally considering getting a few boosters packs... BUT THATS THE PROBLEM!😤 Wizards of the Coast (WoC) and investors of WoC , are just trying to get consumers to buy their packs. WoC & investors dont care about the meta & continuity, instead favors profits through popculture craze.
Investing and collaboration is canabolizing the og mtg ethos.

https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Secret_Lair

Secret Lair was originally a set where there would be popculture and new & wacky art for existing cards. This didnt really affect any new mechanics in the game and was purely astetic... for a while. (You'll notice the original name of the card in lil text under the name of the card of the. Thats how you know if it's an original card or not.)

(The same Card with different art, there is not uniuqe mechanics or abilities to spongebob, as its just art.)

A few new cards would drop of completly new mechanics and keywords. The difference now is that there are whole sets with completly unique card mechanics changing meta AND formats.. (Not all cards are legal to play in all formats. Certain cards are not allowed in certain formats. Not all formats have the same rules.)
https://magic.wizards.com/en/formats

Continuity in this game has completly changed ever since secret lair releases and now fully out the gate, with fucking, Final Fantasy, Fallout, Ninja Turtle, avatar last air bender, transformers, fucking pop culture BULLSHIT. Bruh!!

Story wise it's just completly left all the old and unique/original creativity in the dupster. Compared to the last 5-30 years, it looks lazy and unoriginal.

The difference from now and then is that mtg fans are receiving content from other franchises, which is affecting how you play the game. Its changes on the meta and formats is de-imersing the og mtg feel. To new players over the last 6 years, may not have noticed much of a change, but people playing this game for 14-28years see a completly new game now ah-days.
(Mtg fans have see power creep and new card mechanics shift the game ultiple times entirely, for decades. Pop culture is not a sole driver of change in the meta).

Im all about popculture overlap, but dis shit be ruining the meta all for hype! Like from a money perspective, is great bc people see their favorite character from their favorite popculture something and go spend money. I have seriously met people who never considered playing Magic and got a starter deck bc iy was Spiderman! My eyes are bleeding! Wtf! Its just pushing out old players who've been at this game for 30 years.

"Wait... hold up. Did you say Spiderman?!!"

Like it totally  made sense back in 2019 when when MtG released a DnD crossover set, bc like wizard of the coast owns both, but WtF is this?!

"oh shiiiit?! Wait actually is that a nightmare fuel f***ed up Firby?! Yo, thats actually kinda lit."

Like wtf is this, you're telling me Kratos(god of war),  Priincess Twilight Sparkle(my little pony), Joel(last of us), and Sauron(Lord of the rings); could show down in a 4player commander game while people are throwing out eldrazies, slivers & shit?!

...

Are you shitting me?!!

And they are exspensive too!

I wonder if they would do a Hades set or Legend of Zelda set... oooo Melinoe as a commander? That'd be sick AF!!
