Despite what this article says, Tumblr hasn't really banned all porn (yet?). They have automatic detection and removal for videos but pornographic photos and gifs are still available. You can no longer search for explicit phrases but blogs you are following can still post porn into your dashboard. You can find more by following people they reblog, but this really is a shell of porn Tumblr's former glory. Imagine how many more people would have left if they actually banned porn 100%
any blog flagged "explicit" is ONLY viewable in that little sideboard thing on your dash, which means you can't open individual posts on such a blog, OR click any of the links in their header. Any blog flagged "explicit" is basically unviewable except scrolling it in reverse chronological order, and fucking forget reading anything under a "read more" on such a blog. Clicking any of these links takes you to a page that says

and following the link takes you back to the horrible little sideboard on your dash where it gives you this warning AGAIN:

it's really fuckin garbage holy shit they literally broke the tumblrs of anyone who had been posting adult material.
also you can't search for posts tagged "vagina", but you can still get post results for "penis".
