Project Wonderful is shutting down this month and all ads will be disabled on July 11th. Project Wonderful was an auction based advertising platform for webcomics and other small internet communities which has been used by Wetfish, RagnaStats, and Openkore for nearly a decade.
The corporatization and consolidation of the Internet over the past 20 years means the small sites Project Wonderful relied on are no longer as popular as they used to be. As such, the service is no longer able to compete with platforms like Google and Facebook.
To mourn the occasion, Wetfish is creating a series of advertisements to broadcast one final rallying call to all the nerds still out there.
Here are my ideas so far:
Nerd detected- A crosshair lowers on a fish wearing thick glasses
- When locked on to the nerd it turns green and the words appear: NERD DETECTED
- A corporate rachelfish avatar appears and says, "Hi there! Do you know programming or graphic design? We need you! Starting at $25 an hour. Work remotely or at our office in Denver."
- Not sure if there should be a speech bubble, or if it should imitate undertale style. Whatever space allows for, I guess.
Science!- A bubbling beaker and flask of different colors appear
- A robot arm appears and pokes the flask
- The flask explodes with a splat of color
- The objects move to the side (or disappear, depending on space)
- The words appear "Like science, technology, and art? Join our community! Chatrooms, forums, and IRL workshops"
Wetfish Online- A normal looking fish appears and swims away
- Text asks: "Have you ever wanted to be a fish?"
- "WELL NOW'S YOUR CHANCE"
- Random forum avatars fly across the screen (Could use the ones you already made as examples for custom items)
- "Join the WETFISH FORUMS and CUSTOMIZE YOUR FISH AVATAR today!!!""
Do the thing- Ever wanted your own game server?
- Make Rachel pay for it!!!
- <noby> !tell rachel do the thing
- <noby> !tell rachel do the thing
- ... etc ... text scrolls across the screen
- Step 1. Get on IRC
- Step 2. Tell Rachel to pay for your server!!!
- That's it, WOW it's so easy!
