request neptun be banned

Neptun had previously questioned why we had the no racism rule. It was explained to them that its because we don't want to drive people away who might be offended by it.

Yesterday, Neptun made an nword joke.  very mild, but it resulted in someone being driven away.

They have accepted their guilt and accepted any punishment up to maximum.

Today, they re-iterated that have not understood the point of the rule, or don't care about the rule.

I request they be banished to prisoners island

If anyone has the chat log, I would appreciate u upload it as evidence.

cool idea, this seems reasonable, but I would like to see a couple other people's opinions before making a final decision

if nobody else has any input before the solstice (june 21) I will enforce this judgement by default

objection, i'd like to see actual logs posted here before any judgment is enforced

Oops, thought this was in SP.  I'd like to hear why neptun believes what they believe and see if they'd be willing to abide by the rule despite any objection to it.  Otherwise, I think the suggested punishment is appropriate.  If you'd like to read my original response and maybe riff on it yourself it is here.

It looks like it wasn't neptun's use of the word -- as an example, not as an invective -- it was neptun's false claim that rachel told him it's okay to use the word casually.  Old-Ben took it as truth, felt that was a sign they'd encounter more distressing language here, and decided to leave.

Yeah, that is pretty obnoxious.  6 months.  3 months if neptun writes wetfish an apology and agrees not to do it again.  If they do, 3 more months.

i'm willing to give some lenience to neptun re: rachel saying it's ok, i think in the past at least rachel has said that it's okay to use it in a limited way so long as you're not being racist, even as a joke
the rules certainly reflect that sense
at the same time, neptun's use was nonchalant at best, and neptun's reaction to the overall situation has been very nonchalant
neptun has shown no interest (imo) in trying to make up for their behavior, make amends, or shown any kind of real remorse
because of that and until genuine remorse is shown, i support the punishment
i think not showing remorse shows that you don't particularly value your place here in this community, not your access to it, and certainly not the people you have ticked off (and the person you have caused to leave)
if you don't value your place in the community, then when push comes to shove, don't expect to keep it

do they mean "real" in the colloquial sense of "keeping it real", or, I suspect, the literal sense of "all of you are NPCs and made up in a simulation and I'm the only real person here"
