what i like about wetfish
- talking shit with people
- irc still works on very low bandwidth and its a fun way to pass the time
- i see a lot of weirdos from around the internet and hear new perspectives
- i find out about strange technologies, sometimes open source
- im usually not banned
- changing my name to silly things
- unusual intersection of open source, art culture, transhumanism

sometimes i feel like i put a lot more thought into my posts than 90% of the fish but that's okay. when i get tired i just take a break for a while.

i used to share memes but i stopped bc i don't think people get anything out of it. corral suddenly stopped mattering to me.

I get a safe internet community. It's niche enough that I'm not too worried about it backfiring on me later, as I am in the field of social work. Its private enough where I feel comfortable sharing wild things about myself without it being sent to everyone and their mother on Facebook. Plus it's hidden on the internet enough that I feel like a cool internet hipster. Lol.

I like wetfish bc it gets me off of 86% of my other social media. Most of the time I'm just browsing YouTube shorts and Tumblr memes. So, it gets me off of Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, Snapchat, & Discord. I'm not hoping between apps as much and it makes me feel like I'm part of a safe and fun small internet community. 🙃

Also, it's like an archive of things and that's pretty cool too. I like that I can be a part of it as it grows, which makes it feel more personable and collaborative.
